First game in over a month for Grangey today, as was the case for most teams and this showed as that and a boggy pitch contributed to what won't be remembered as the most pretty game of football either team will play this season.
Simon started well on the left by utilising the acres of space he was left with and pushing into the Bramley half, often from the quick distribution of Steve Wilko in net. The best use of this space came from a tackle come cross by Si which landed in the path of Dacre upfront who slotted past the oncoming keeper with no problems to give Grangey an early one nil lead.
The game was then evenly matched between the two sides with both teams getting stuck in and on the whole defending well and not giving the opposition time to settle on the ball or get any sort of lengthy possession. An equaliser then came from Bramley to make it 1-1 at the break.
The second half continued as the first had finished with either team finding it hard to break the deadlock, the Grangey midfield of Tommo, Cainsy, Si & Jamie were trying to work the ball through to Ross and Dac upfront but to little avail as Bramley also worked hard to break down any play set up.
In the end Bramley's hard work paid off and they took the lead after a defensive error. 1-2 with time running out for an equaliser so tactics were changed and Grangey went to 3 at the back to push more men forward which eventually paid off with a late equaliser coming from Ross who slotted the ball home after a Si Yeadon corner eventually landed at his feet just within the box.
2-2 – FULL TIME
The majority of the game was played with some hard but fair challenges coming from both teams with the odd mistimed or occasional naughty tackle taking tempers past boiling point however, in the main it was in good spirits and in my opinion the ref dealt with the game well although I know some spectators wouldn't agree, but when's that not the case in a game made of opinions!
Grangey now second in the league with a game in hand which if won will put us top however, a number of teams are competing for the top two places in the league so a long way to go this season yet!
