A tough pitch to play today with sections harder than concrete and other sections softer than Jenks' back! Still Grangey were up for it before the game with Oz back to skipper the team everyone wanted to get back to winning ways after last weeks draw with anothe title contender.

The pitch dictated the majority of the game to be scrappy with passes going astray from both teams throughout the game as neither team gave the other time to settle on the ball. Most of the grangey play was going through the middle and a couple of half chances fell to both teams early on with neither team taking advantage.

The first goal came about half an hour in and what a goal! A corner from the right hand side from Tommo was lofted in at head height towards the edge of the box but behind most of the on coming Grangey attack - cue the weekly acrobatics attempt from Ross. Up he got spinning like a catherine wheel with a trademark overhead kick that doesnt always pay off its fair to say. This being one of those times unfortunately, until Thorpey decided to show him how it's done! A yard behind Ross, overhead kick, top corner, Roberts your fathers brother!

One nil - Andy Thorpe

Half time

Second half continued with much of the same really, as the pitch got softer the football was becoming more difficult but Grangey were creating the majority of the chances with a couple of one on one chances not taken.

The second goal came when Dacre was brought down in the area and a penalty awarded, Ross cooley slotting away to make it two nil to the home side and thats how the game finished.

Shire had some decent players and this was by no means an easy game for Grangey, it's hard to see why Shire are struggling near the bottom of the table but also proves what a strong dividion YOBL Div 2 is. I think the home team did deserve the win but if Shire would have taken their chances it could have been a different story.

A make or break month for Grangey 1st team coming up, playing most of the teams around them at the top of the division! Bring it on!
